Susane Colasanti did a magnificent job at making this book so realistic, emotional and just brilliantly hopeful and encouraging. Hope made everything feel wide open. By sixteen you should start learning life skills. If I could I wish I could give each adolescent the gift hooding perspective.

The last chapter made me cringe a bit, even, since none of the words felt like the things Noelle would say. The story itself is woven really well. No one sits with her at lunch. Everyone needs a best friend like Sherae.

Noelle is a poor girl going to a school with rich kids. View all 4 comments. It was horrifying to know that there are kids that really do endure the bullying on the same level Noelle does and worse.

I grew up in a “whatever you want to fix” childhood. She mentions later on when she’s out at a diner with Sherae that it was “their diner” and they were regulars, which suggested to me that Noelle paid to eat out once in a while.

Noelle is constantly bullied at her school. They were stock bullies. I won’t judge her, though.

Why would Audrey do what she does? Is this feature helpful? I am not embarrassed anymore.
