Susane Colasanti did a magnificent job at making this book so realistic, emotional and just brilliantly hopeful and encouraging. Hope made everything feel wide open. By sixteen you should start learning life skills. If I could I wish I could give each adolescent the gift hooding perspective.

I just had so much trouble sympathizing with, connecting with, or even liking Noelle. Carly, who’s also been “obsessed with bullying” Noelle for three years, physically harasses her.

Kfep she is offered a position on the lit mag and her crush, funky Julian Porter, asks her out, Noelle wants to believe that things are finally turning around.

The last chapter made me cringe a bit, even, since none of the words felt like the things Noelle would say. The story itself is woven really well. No one sits with her at lunch. Everyone needs a best friend like Sherae.

I hated Noelle for this. I’m not sure I’m saying that correctly – what I mean is that it’s inevitable for you to start questioning things when you’re reading.

Ali does not have any friends to talk to in the hallways or to hang out with after school. Although I have some complains because this book might as well be called a series of unfortunate events because that was all it was, a range of situations in which a teen girl was bullied and the correspondent expected reactions. As an adult now and a parent I would hope I would say and do something if I was ever put in a situation where I saw someone being bullied.

The environment around her and the treatment she receives make her believe that she’s no good for anyone. I commend Susane for taking her experience and writing such an encouraging story. When her stepfather passed away, Noelle and her mother had to move to a small apartment and cut down on the luxuries they’d previously been used to. Maybe it was fast because I could not put it down.

Noelle is a poor girl going to a school with rich kids. View all 4 comments. It was horrifying to know that there are kids that really do endure the bullying on the same level Noelle does and worse.

I grew up in a “whatever you want to fix” childhood. She mentions later on when she’s out at a diner with Sherae that it was “their diner” and they were regulars, which suggested to me that Noelle paid to eat out once in a while.

Noelle is constantly bullied at her school. They were stock bullies. I won’t judge her, though.

Why would Audrey do what she does? Is this feature helpful? I am not embarrassed anymore.
