Gives you an excellent understanding on how we have the four mashabs as we do today. Bilal Philips’ thesis is dangerously lacking depth. If the point was to talk about the evolution of fiqh in history, I don’t believe one should write out their opinions and how they disagree with taqleed and the way the scholars of the centuries handled things. No trivia bilap quizzes yet.

Want to Read saving…. I loved this book and will continue to reread every once in a while. If you are a beginner and are overwhelmed by the differences in opinion and the heavyweight position fiqb by the Imams, then this books is a must read.
