I’m using a Belkin Tunecast II, with the longer antenna mod, and the quality of the audio is terrible. The coverage is not too bad, but its full of. the Belkin tunecast 2 FM transmitter can be modified to extend the transmit range. It can put out over milliwatts of RF power and be heard.

Newb here, I’m using the crappy TC3 at work; 50km from the nearest town.

I did not use “coax” to solder directly to the Tunecast, solid copper core is way too big to attach to the board. How to boost the FM Transmission power.

Please help me out with the Belkin Mod, I have a few questions. Remove R36 and R39 the hunecast which connect to groundshort across R37 and just leave C38 and L4 between the output and the antenna. I just have some sensible advice for everyone on this and other sites about mods to transmitters.

Thank-you Daniel greatly appreciated: This image shows the blue wire cut, the blue inductor at the top shorted, and where the coax is attached. I noticed there is a 12v socket on the bottom of the Belkin why not use it with a cheap plug pack?

The solution is to replace belin stereo plug with a plug that is small enough to still fit the TuneCast package.

This would result in a more powerful signal. It would be simple to remove C38 and connect the internal antenna directly to pin Having found this out, it makes the Tunecast useable. Well, the music I have trouble with is quite loud in places and I adjust out the distortion then, but even so, the quiet parts I’m talking of orchestral music are still below the TC3’s threshold, resulting in the beeping which I can’t seem to override and then cut out, a pain in the backside!!!

Does that answer your question? I have seen several ways and I was just confused. You won’t quite need a diesel generator but the battery pack from your Intel Centrino laptop might not be big enough.

Just a piece of CAT5e cable cut to length for the wire. Any kind of external regulation is not needed, so if operating from AC power A 9V ma unregulated wall transformer works best. This is like getting a basic economy car and modding it to try and make it work like a corvette!! I can’t see the equivalent components to bypass the auto shut down either.

Has anyone had better luck since last post? I have actually made an instructable based on this mod with a link to here as this is where I found it originallyit shows how Bdlkin modified my TC3 and what I did, I’m sure it’ll be useful to others.

This is my first upgrade using instructables, but not my last. What is your frequency.

What you would see in your brandnew TuneCast, the ‘Before’ Here’s a series of photos of the same TuneCast, thankfully with everything still attached. The result is this: Spurs seen in the third plot are present in the original un-amplified output and are probably generated by digital circuits in the BH chip but are low enough not to cause any harmful interference aside from the main signal itself, and are amplified along with it.

I have included a picture of it. The second plot shows harmonics to be well suppressed by the filtering.

Open it up, find the FM transmitter IC, find its datasheet and examine the circuit. An ESD safe surface mount soldering station and microscope are tunecqst. Based on the internal photos, I wonder if the square chip near the antenna connections is doing the FM modulation.
